Dr. Quansheng Zhao serves as Professor of International Relations and Chair of the Asian Studies Research Council at American University's School of International Service. He previously directed the Division of Comparative and Regional Studies for three consecutive terms from 1999 to 2008.
His educational foundation comprises a B.A. from Peking University, followed by M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and postdoctoral research at Harvard University.

His policy contributions include testimony before the U.S. Congress on China's high-speed rail system and consultancy for the United Nations. He coordinates the Global Forum of Chinese Political Scientists and serves as Editor of Global China, while actively participating in the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
Through his leadership of the Global Forum of Chinese Political Scientists and editorship of Global China, Dr. Zhao facilitates critical cross-border academic collaboration among scholars studying Chinese political systems and international relations.
