Dr. Zifu Zhao is a Continuing Lecturer in Chinese Language at the University of California, Merced, within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. He specializes in late imperial Chinese history and has taught both Chinese language and East Asian history courses at UC Merced and other U.S. universities.
- Education: Master's in Classical Chinese Language and Literature from Beijing Normal University; Ph.D. in Chinese History from Peking University
Dr. Zhao's research focuses on the decline of the Qing dynasty and the life of Manchu poets during this period. He has published multiple books and articles on Chinese history and literature, with a current monograph project examining the intersection of cultural identity and dynastic collapse in late imperial China.
