Qing Zhang serves as Professor of Mathematics in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia, where he has maintained an active faculty position from 1994 through 2025. His academic career centers on advanced mathematical systems with significant contributions to stochastic control theory and financial applications.
His educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University. Professor Zhang's research program spans Applied Mathematics, Applied Probability, Stochastic Optimal Control, Nonlinear Filtering, and Mathematical Finance, resulting in five specialized monographs and over 200 publications in premier journals including Automatica, Mathematics of Operations Research, and SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization.
His scholarly impact is recognized through prestigious awards:

Professor Zhang maintains influential editorial leadership as Corresponding Editor of SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, following previous associate editorships at Automatica and IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control.
