Qilong Ying

Qilong Ying is Professor of Stem Cell Biology at USC's Keck School of Medicine. His lab investigates molecular mechanisms controlling embryonic stem cell self-renewal versus differentiation decisions. Pioneered rat embryonic stem cell derivation techniques enabling advanced genetic models for human disease research.

Research focuses on signaling pathways (ERK, GSK3, AKT) regulating pluripotency, cardiac differentiation, and kidney development. Develops innovative organoid models for regenerative medicine applications and high-precision gene editing techniques.

Honored with ISSCR's McEwen Innovation Award for stem cell technology advancements. Current collaborations with Shanghai Cell Therapy Group aim to improve hematopoietic stem cell expansion for clinical use.
