معرفی
Dr. Qibo Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in Immunology at the University of Surrey's School of Biosciences. His research focuses on mucosal immunity against respiratory pathogens and vaccines, immune regulation of infection/inflammation, and translational strategies for vaccines/therapeutics. He holds a BSc, MD, and PhD, and has been funded by MRC, NIHR, and industry partnerships. With over 70 publications and 20+ supervised PhD students, his work integrates basic science with clinical applications.
Research Interests
Dr. Zhang investigates mucosal immunity to pathogens like influenza, RSV, SARS-CoV-2, and S. aureus using ex vivo human immune tissue cultures. His studies emphasize antigen-specific T/B cell responses and immuno-regulatory therapies. Collaborations with pharmaceutical companies enhance translational outcomes.
Grants & Students
Funded by MRC, NIHR, and SPARKS, his lab has produced over 20 PhD graduates. Current supervision includes Leah Johal (PhD) and postdocs Ashley Giam and George Loxley.
