معرفی
Qiang Liu is Professor of High Voltage Engineering at the University of Manchester and Head of the High Voltage Research Group. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Engineering from University of Manchester (2011), M.Eng. from Xi’an Jiaotong University (2008), and B.Eng. from Xi’an Jiaotong University (2005).
His research focuses on dielectric fluids applications in power equipment, discharge mechanisms, transformer thermal modeling, and high voltage insulation systems. Specific interests include environmentally friendly insulating liquids, breakdown mechanisms, transformer thermal performance, and asset management. He chairs the Cigre D1.01 Advisory Group on Dielectric Liquids and serves as associate editor of IET High Voltage Journal.
Research outputs demonstrate consistent focus on improving insulation reliability for power systems, with recent work on dielectric fluids characterization, thermal modeling, and advanced diagnostic techniques. Publications combine experimental investigations with computational approaches for practical applications.
Awards include the Best Paper Award at CIGRE Paris Session 2018 for research on gas-to-liquid transformer oils.
