Qiancheng Li

Qiancheng Li is a Professor of Chinese at Louisiana State University (LSU), affiliated with the Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures within the College of Humanities & Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis (1999). His research focuses on premodern Chinese literature, comparative literature, religion and literature, East Asian theatre, visual culture, intellectual history, transnational novel studies, translation, digital humanities, and science fiction.

Recent teaching includes courses such as Traditional East Asian Literature, Science Fiction East and West, and independent research supervision. His awards include the 2023 International Convention of Asia Scholars Book Prize for Transmutations of Desire, Manship Summer Research Stipends (2014 and 2012), and the ATLAS Grant (2010–2011).

Key publications include Transmutations of Desire (2020), Further Adventures on the Journey to the West (2020), and an annotated edition of Xiyou bu (2011). His work bridges literary analysis, religious studies, and digital humanities, with a focus on transnational cultural exchange.
