Qian Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems at The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business. Previously, she held an Assistant Professorship in Marketing at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Business (2020–2022). She earned a Ph.D. in Marketing from Penn State (2020), M.Sc. in Statistics and Master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Minnesota (2012), and dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Geographical Science from Peking University (2009).
Her research focuses on business analytics, digital marketing, and operations management, leveraging machine learning, network analysis, and optimization to drive data-driven decisions. Key interests include AI’s societal impact, customer targeting, inventory control, and multi-touch attribution modeling. She has published in top journals like Management Science and Journal of Business & Economic Statistics.

Professional Experience: Prior to academia, Dr. Chen worked as a Marketing Operations Manager and Business Intelligence Specialist at AvePoint Inc. (2012–2014).
