Priyanka Rupasinghe

Priyanka Rupasinghe is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the State University of New York at Oswego. She holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oklahoma (2011), an M.S. in Engineering Physics (2007), and a B.S. in Physics (First Class Honors) from the University of Colombo (2002). Her research focuses on atomic and optical physics, including precision measurements of hyperfine constants, isotope shifts, and applications of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) in quantum computing and sensor development. She has conducted postdoctoral research at Williams College and the California Institute of Technology.

Her research group investigates atomic structure using techniques like saturated absorption spectroscopy and two-step absorption spectroscopy. Notable achievements include the 2023 Provost's Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity. Dr. Rupasinghe teaches a range of physics courses, including modern physics, electronics, optics, and quantum physics. She leads the Atomic & Optical Physics Laboratory at SUNY Oswego, which explores both fundamental physics and applied technologies.

Her publications span topics such as rubidium spectroscopy, lead monofluoride molecular properties, and precision measurements of electric quadrupole transitions. Ongoing work includes developing RF-field sensors using EIT and exploring quantum memory applications.
