Priit Tammeorg is a University Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Helsinki and holds the title of Docent. He is affiliated with multiple research groups including the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS), Viikki Plant Science Centre (ViPS), and the AgriChar research group. His research focuses on agroecology, soil science, and sustainable resource management.
His work explores biochar applications, sediment recycling for agricultural use, and nutrient cycling in boreal ecosystems. Current projects examine long-term effects of biochar as a soil amendment material in boreal agriculture.
Dr. Tammeorg leads significant research initiatives including 'Biohiili 2025' and studies on sediment reuse for crop production. He has received the Frontiers Planet Prize 2023 as National Champion of Finland for research on sustainable lake restoration. He actively supervises graduate students including doctoral candidate Samuel Amoah and MSc researcher Zannatul Ferdous.
