Professor Prem Chhetri is an Academic Director for International & Engagement at RMIT University, Australia. He holds a Professorship in Logistics and Supply Chain Management within the School of Business IT and Logistics. His career includes roles as former Head of the Department of Supply Chain & Logistics Management, Director of the Global Supply Chain Research Priority Area, and Program Director for Open Australia Universities. He earned a Ph.D. in Geospatial Science from RMIT (2003), alongside Master's degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Delhi School of Economics.
Chhetri specializes in spatially-integrated supply chain analytics, port logistics, climate change impacts, urban analytics, and humanitarian logistics. He leads projects on maritime resilience, food security, and emergency response systems, supported by grants from the Australian Research Council and government bodies. His 200+ publications span journals like OMEGA, Transportation Research, and Annals of Operations Research.
Key awards include the RMIT College of Business Excellence Award (2016), Research Excellence Award (2013), and Learning & Teaching Award (2009). He serves on EU-funded initiatives like NOVELOG and is Chairman of the Global Research Network on Belt and Road Initiative (GRN-BRI). Chhetri holds Visiting Professorships at Universiti Teknologi MARA (Malaysia), Chandigarh University (India), and is a Visiting Fellow at Zhejiang University (China).
Teaching focuses on supply chain management, port operations, and global logistics. His supervision spans 12+ research projects addressing urban fires, blockchain logistics, and sustainable supply chains. Chhetri’s work bridges academia with industry through collaboration with governments, international agencies, and institutions like the EU Horizon 2020 program.
