Praveen Edara is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He also served as Interim Dean of the College of Engineering (2023-2024) and held roles such as Faculty Fellow for Research, Industrial Engagement, and Entrepreneurship (2018-2019) and Director of Graduate Studies (2016-2019).
- Education: PhD and MS from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; BTech from Indian Institute of Technology-Madras.
His research focuses on traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, geometric design, traffic safety, disaster resilience, alternative intersection designs, and VR/AR training modules for transportation workforce. His work has been funded by NSF, U.S. DOT, MoDOT, and local governments.
Recent research includes generating artificial realistic crash datasets and analyzing naturalistic driving study data for safety assessments. He also collaborates with MoDOT on infrastructure resilience and intersection design evaluations.

- Professional Credentials: Registered Professional Engineer in Missouri; Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer.
He previously worked as a Research Scientist at the Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC) and as a Research Contractor at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center (Federal Highway Administration).
