Prathit Arun Kulkarni, M.D., FACP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine-Infectious Disease at Baylor College of Medicine and serves as Assistant Chief of Medicine at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. He directs the Adult Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at Baylor. His education includes a B.A. in Chemistry from Rice University, an M.D. from Baylor with an International Health Track, and residencies in Internal Medicine/Pediatrics at Baylor, where he also served as Chief Resident. He completed a fellowship in Adult Infectious Diseases and an Epidemic Intelligence Service Fellowship at the CDC.
His research focuses on infectious diseases, epidemiology, and public health interventions, with emphasis on HIV, antimicrobial resistance, and global health challenges. He has received multiple teaching and service awards, including recognition from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the U.S. Public Health Service.
