Pratheesh Omana Sudhakaran

Dr. Pratheesh Omana Sudhakaran is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas State University, part of the College of Science and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Environment and Natural Resource Economics from the University of Rhode Island, an M.S. in Aquaculture and Fisheries from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and a B.S. in Fisheries Science from Kerala Agricultural University. His research focuses on aquaculture economics, food safety, natural resource management, and experimental economics. He has conducted impactful studies, including a dissertation recognized as the Best Dissertation by the International Association of Aquaculture Economists (IAAEM) in 2016, which influenced shellfish management in Rhode Island.

Dr. Sudhakaran teaches courses such as Farm Management, Agribusiness Management, Quantitative Methods in Agriculture, and Agricultural Finance. His current research explores aquaculture economics in Texas and Bangladesh, regenerative agriculture, and safe food systems. He leads or collaborates on grants totaling millions in funding, including projects on organic hydroponics, food safety in Bangladesh, and agricultural mentoring programs.
