Prakash Vishnu

Dr. Prakash Vishnu serves as an Academic Associate Professor of Clinical Practice in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. He practices at two major clinical sites: Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center - South Lake Union and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center at UW Medical Center - Montlake. As a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, Dr. Vishnu specializes in complex blood disorders with a systems-based approach to patient care.

Dr. Vishnu received his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College in India, completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University, and pursued fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology at Mayo Clinic. He maintains board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hematology, Medical Oncology, and Internal Medicine.

His clinical expertise spans thrombotic and hemorrhagic disorders, hemoglobinopathies, bone marrow failure and cytopenia, disorders of iron metabolism, and rare genetic hematologic diseases. Dr. Vishnu is dedicated to optimizing both individual patient care and healthcare delivery systems for patients with blood disorders, developing practice models that improve outcomes while reducing complications and eliminating unnecessary spending.

Dr. Vishnu's extensive publication record demonstrates a consistent focus on heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, immune thrombocytopenia, cancer-associated thrombosis, and iron metabolism disorders. His research combines clinical investigation with systems-based approaches to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic management of complex hematologic conditions.
