Prakash Kashwan is an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies and Chair of the Environmental Justice concentration in the Master of Public Policy (MPP) program at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management, Brandeis University. He is affiliated with the Interdepartmental Program in South Asian Studies and the Environmental Studies Section of the International Studies Association (ISA).
- Ph.D. in Public Policy from Indiana University-Bloomington
- M.S. in Forestry Management from Indian Institute of Forest Management
- B.Sc. from Jai Narain Vyas University
His research explores the intersections of environment, development, and socioeconomic/political dimensions of global environmental and climate change, with a focus on environmental conservation, social justice, climate justice, and decolonizing conservation practices. His work integrates empirical studies from India, Tanzania, and Mexico.

Kashwan contributes to global environmental governance as a Senior Research Fellow of the Earth System Governance Project and a member of the IPBES expert group on transformative change. He co-founded the Climate Justice Network and serves on editorial advisory boards for Environmental Politics and Earth Systems Governance.
