Dr. Prakash Bhagat is an Academic Visitor in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University. He holds a PhD from National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), JNU, New Delhi (2019), where his research focused on MAPK signaling in plant growth under Dr. Alok Krishna Sinha. His current work investigates SUMOylation mechanisms in temperature sensing and plant development in Prof. Ari Sadanandom's lab. He previously contributed to the FRASS project (collaboration with FRASS Industries) under Dr. Elaine Fitches.
Research interests include post-translational modifications (SUMOylation, phosphorylation), ABA and auxin signaling, and plant biotechnology. His studies span plant immunity, hormone pathways, and environmental stress responses. Notable contributions include elucidating SUMOylation's role in brassinosteroid receptor activity and miRNA-mediated pathogen resistance.
