Povlakic Meliha

Meliha Povlakic is a full professor at the Law School of the University of Sarajevo, specializing in Civil law, Property law, Inheritance law, European private law, and Secured transactions law. Her research focuses on the legal transfer and harmonization of Bosnian and Herzegovinian law with EU Law. She has served as Chief of the Civil law chair since 2017 and held administrative roles including Vice-Dean for International Cooperation (2012–2017) and Head of the Committee for International Cooperation (2014–2017).

• Practical Engagements: Legal reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, expert groups for Land Registries Law, Bankruptcy Law, Notary Law, and Property Law; worked with GIZ, Office of the High Representative for Brčko District, and USAID
• Languages: Native German, fluent English, and proficient in French

Her scholarly contributions include studies, books, and scientific papers published in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad (Austria, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia). She has organized and participated in numerous international conferences and projects, and serves on the editorial boards of legal journals.

She has also contributed to legal practice through roles in supervisory boards of banks and investment funds, participation in international arbitrations, and conducting educational seminars for practicing lawyers in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
