Dr. Pontus Odmalm is a Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Edinburgh's School of Social and Political Science. His research focuses on migration's social and political impacts, citizenship (national and European), political mobilization, and party competition, with a comparative European perspective. He holds an MA from Lund University (1999) and a D.Phil from the University of Sussex (2004). His work explores topics such as the politics of immigration, party system dynamics, and the rise of populist radical right parties. He supervises comparative projects on immigration/integration and party competition.
Key qualifications include academic leadership in European political studies and contributions to projects like the ESRC-funded 'Ownership and Party Positions' and the EU-funded 'Citizenship Access' initiative. His publications include edited volumes like The European Mainstream and the Populist Radical Right (2017) and peer-reviewed chapters analyzing contemporary political trends.
