Dr. Polly Hyslop is a Research Professor of Indigenous Studies with ancestral ties to Upper Tanana River Athabascan Dineh and Scottish heritage. As a member of the Neesüü clan born in Interior Alaska, her work focuses on community-based dispute resolution frameworks and Indigenous knowledge preservation. She holds a doctorate in Indigenous Studies from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, complemented by degrees in Journalism and Justice Administration.
Her research examines the interconnections between language revitalization, ceremonial practices, and community well-being, with particular emphasis on developing culturally-grounded peacemaking methodologies for Native communities. Dr. Hyslop integrates traditional ecological knowledge with contemporary academic approaches to explore relationships between land connection, cultural practices, and social resilience.
