Poe M. Allphin is a third-year musicology PhD student at the City University of New York Graduate Center and serves as a PartTime Lecturer at Queens College, holding the title of Lost & Found Archival Research Fellow.
His educational trajectory centers on pursuing a doctorate in Musicology at CUNY, with research bridging academic training and practical archival fellowship work.
His scholarship critically examines 20th and 21st-century queer and trans communities in the United States through interdisciplinary lenses of queer theory, trans studies, and disability studies, utilizing archival materials and oral histories. Current work focuses on gay, lesbian, and feminist communal song practices during the 1970s–1980s, with publications appearing in Transgender Studies Quarterly and Resonance. This research foregrounds marginalized musical expressions within social movements.
