Pitchaiah Mandava, M.D., Ph.D., MSEE, is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), where he also serves as Program Director for the Vascular Neurology Fellowship. His academic roles include teaching and leading clinical research in stroke and neurocritical care. He holds certifications in Vascular Neurology, Neurology, and Neurocritical Care from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Dr. Mandava earned his PhD from the University of Texas at Dallas, his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE). His research focuses on advancing stroke treatment through clinical trials, medical device innovation (e.g., sonothrombolysis), and telemedicine applications in acute care. He also investigates hyperglycemia’s impact on stroke outcomes and stroke epidemiology in rural populations.
His publications span 2009–2019, emphasizing advancements in thrombolytic therapies, neurocritical monitoring, and methodological rigor in preclinical testing. Key themes include optimizing stroke management protocols and understanding disparities in treatment responses across demographic groups. Dr. Mandava’s work bridges clinical practice, engineering, and public health to address unmet needs in neurology.
