Rahul Damani

Rahul Damani, M.D., M.P.H., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine, with a focus on Vascular Neurology and Neurocritical Care. He holds dual roles as Program Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship and Associate Program Director of the Neurology Residency. His affiliations include the Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Damani's education includes an MBBS from C.U. Shah Medical College (India), an MPH from the University of Texas, and advanced training through residencies and fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine and Wayne State University. He is certified in Neurology and Neurocritical Care.

His research interests center on acute cerebrovascular disorders, including stroke mechanisms, intracerebral hemorrhage management, and subarachnoid hemorrhage outcomes. He has contributed to studies on space medicine, thrombolytic therapy regionalization, and cerebral edema management. His work emphasizes translational research, such as noninvasive ICP monitoring and safety checklist implementation in neurocritical care units.

Dr. Damani has received awards including the Cristanne Wijman Young Investigator Award and the Baylor College of Medicine Faculty Teaching Award. He leads grants funded by NINDS, TRISH, and Baylor’s ACE program, focusing on checklist-based quality improvement, space health data repositories, and atrial cardiopathy stroke prevention.

His professional memberships span the American Academy of Neurology, Neurocritical Care Society, and American Stroke Association. He actively contributes to clinical guidelines and common data element development for cerebrovascular research.
