Pirjo Lindfors is a Lecturer at Tampere University with affiliations spanning the School of Health Sciences. Her research focuses on the intersection of health, education, and digital media, particularly examining YouTubers as peer mental health educators in adolescent social environments. She leads the TUBEDU project funded by the Academy of Finland (2022–2026), which analyzes multimodal mental health communication on social media.
Current projects include:
- TUBEDU: YouTube influencers’ role in adolescent mental health education.
- RELE: Adolescent learning, health, and educational transitions.
- SILNE-R: Youth smoking prevention strategies in Europe (2015–2018).
She is a member of the NEDIS research group under the PERLA strategic unit at Tampere University, contributing to childhood and youth research. Her work emphasizes the interplay between educational outcomes and adolescent well-being, alongside institutional healthcare practices.
