Piret Viires is a Professor of Estonian literature and literary theory at Tallinn University. She holds a PhD (2006) and Master’s degree (2000) from the University of Tartu. Her research focuses on postmodernism, digital literature, and Estonian literature during the 1990s transition period.
Her major works include Postmodernism in Estonian Literary Culture (2012) and co-edited collections like The Digital Turn (2013). She has taught at institutions such as the University of Helsinki and Eötvös Loránd University, and actively participates in editorial boards and international conferences.
Her research explores intersections between literature and technology, with articles analyzing cyberculture, digital narratives, and global cultural dynamics. She is a member of the Estonian Writers’ Union and has published creative fiction alongside academic work.
