Piotr Nowicki

Piotr Nowicki is a Professor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, Faculty I (Conducting, Composition and Music Theory), Department of Vocal Performance and Acting, since 1995. He specializes in 20th- and 21st-century piano performance and chamber music, premiering works by Polish and international composers.

• Founder and President of the Kwartludium New Music Foundation (2023)
• Head of the Inter-Faculty Department of Contemporary Music (2012–2018)
• Active in international festivals (Warsaw Autumn, Bejing Modern, Unsound) and collaborations with Kwartludium ensemble (since 2002) and Nowicki Duo (with brother Paweł).

Research Interests: His work focuses on contemporary classical music, commissioning new compositions for piano/percussion duo and promoting avant-garde repertoires. He has performed over 140 oratorios and operas globally, emphasizing modernist and experimental genres.

Grants & Collaborations: Recipient of scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the Mayor of Gdańsk. His foundation secures co-financing from the Ministry of Culture, Swedish Arts Grants Committee, and the European Union.

Artistic Impact: Notable recordings include collaborations with Dux, Requiem Records, and Touch. He has performed across Europe, Asia, and North America, advocating for emerging composers through premieres and international festivals.
