Piotr Gierszewski is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Environmental Resources and Geohazards at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization (IGiPZ PAN) of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He also leads the Research Station Dobiegniewo. His career spans over three decades, including roles at Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz (2003-2018) as an Assistant Professor.
Education: Master's degree in Geography (specializing in geomorphology and Quaternary paleogeography) from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń (1979-1985). Advanced qualifications include a PhD (1998) and Habilitation (2019) in physical geography from IGiPZ PAN.
