Dr. Piotr Bojakowski is an Assistant Professor in the Anthropology Department at Texas A&M University, holding the Sara W. & George O. Yamini Endowed Professorship. He specializes in nautical archaeology with a focus on early modern shipbuilding, underwater cultural heritage, and maritime history. His research integrates advanced technologies like 3D modeling, GIS, and drone-based surveys. Dr. Bojakowski directs the J. Richard Steffy Ship Reconstruction Laboratory, a leading facility in ship archaeology.
Education: Earned his PhD in Anthropology in 2012 (institution unspecified). Key research areas include Atlantic World maritime history (16th–18th centuries), conflict archaeology involving unaccounted US service members, and interdisciplinary projects like the Zanzibar Ship Ethnography.
