معرفی
Piotr Bazarnik is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology. Within the Division of Materials Design he investigates ultrafine-grained and nanocrystalline metallic systems, severe plastic deformation routes (notably high-pressure torsion), and advanced metal-matrix nanocomposites. Dr. Bazarnik is an active member of the Electron Microscopy Laboratory (LabEM) and the Ultra-Fine Grained and Nanocrystalline Materials Team, leveraging state-of-the-art microscopy and mechanical testing facilities.
His research spans the entire pipeline from process development (high-pressure torsion, hydrostatic extrusion, spark-plasma sintering) to multiscale characterization (TEM, SEM, X-ray diffraction, nano-indentation) and property assessment (mechanical, thermal, corrosion, biomedical). Central themes include:
- Grain refinement mechanisms and stability in Al-, Cu-, Mg-, Ti-, and Fe-based alloys
- Reinforcement of metals with graphene, CNTs, ceramics, and hybrid nanoparticles
- Superplasticity, strength–ductility optimization, and surface engineering for biomedical implants
With 72 peer-reviewed publications and an h-index of 22 (Scopus & Web of Science), his recent output (2023-2025) emphasizes aluminum-graphene nanocomposites, Cu-Al₂O₃-GO hybrid systems, high-temperature stability after severe plastic deformation, and corrosion behavior of ultrafine-grained light alloys. These works collectively push the boundaries of lightweight, high-performance materials for aerospace, automotive, and biomedical applications.
Scientific supervision: He has successfully promoted 1 doctoral thesis and continues to advise graduate researchers within his teams.
