Piotr Ashwin-Siejkowski is a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies at King’s College London, UK. He holds a PhD from the University of Warsaw (1998) and has taught at the University of Chichester (2001–2012) and King’s College London (2016–2020). His research focuses on early Christian theology, particularly in the Alexandrian context, including the formation of Christian doctrine and the reception of New Testament texts in early Christian writings.
Education: MA in Philosophy of Religion from the Dominican House of Study in Kraków (1991), PhD in Theology from the University of Warsaw (1998).
Research Interests: Christian Origins (1st–3rd centuries CE), Alexandrian hermeneutical traditions (Philo, Clement, Origen), and the reception of New Testament documents in the Nag Hammadi corpus. His work critically examines categories like 'Valentinianism' to highlight diverse early Christian theologies.
Publications: Key works include Valentinus’ Legacy and Polyphony of Voices (2021), a Routledge monograph challenging traditional scholarly binaries of 'orthodoxy' and 'heresy.' His articles explore Clement of Alexandria’s exegesis, Alexandrian urban influences on theology, and Valentinian texts.
Teaching & Engagement: Delivers lectures on early Christian subjects, leads academic symposia, and engages clergy through study days. Active in public talks, radio, and conferences on patristics and early Christian thought.
