Ping Yin

Ping Yin, MD, PhD, is a Research Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. She maintains active affiliations with the Center for Reproductive Science, Northwestern University Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (NUCATS), and the Simpson Querrey Institute for Epigenetics, where her work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of uterine fibroids and leiomyoma pathogenesis.

Dr. Yin earned her MD from China Medical University (1991) and PhD from Yamanashi Medical University (2002). Her research examines hormonal regulation, epigenetic modifications, and genetic mutations driving uterine fibroid growth, with particular emphasis on identifying novel therapeutic targets for these common female tumors. Recent work investigates lipid metabolism enzymes, tryptophan-kynurenine pathways, and estrogen receptor signaling in fibroid biology.

Her 2025 publications reveal consistent focus on molecular pathways in uterine fibroids, demonstrating translational approaches from basic science to potential therapies. Key themes include metabolic reprogramming in fibroid cells, natural compound interventions, and connections between hormonal signaling and structural disorders like hernias.

Dr. Yin's research is currently supported by a $7.4 million NIH grant for phase-two basic science on uterine fibroids. She collaborates extensively with Dr. Serdar Bulun and the Center for Reproductive Science team, with findings featured in high-impact journals including Physiological Reviews and Cancer Gene Therapy.
