Prof. Dr. Pinar Gozen Ercan is a faculty member at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Hacettepe University. She holds a PhD in International Studies from the University of Trento (2011) and has served in academic roles since 2013, advancing to Professor in 2023. Her research focuses on the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), International Law, Human Rights, and Turkish Foreign Policy. She has authored/edited books such as Debating the Future of the 'Responsibility to Protect' (2016) and supervised over 20 MA/PhD theses.
Her academic career includes visiting scholar positions at the University of Pittsburgh (2008-2009) and roles as Faculty Erasmus Coordinator at Hacettepe. She participates in international conferences (e.g., EISA, BISA) and serves on editorial boards like the European Journal of International Relations. Her teaching spans International Law, R2P, and International Relations theories at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Research interests include R2P's legal and ethical dimensions, humanitarian intervention, and maritime boundary disputes in Greek-Turkish relations. She has contributed to policy discussions on EU-R2P collaboration and cybersecurity implications for international law.
