Pierre Trontin

Pierre Trontin is a Professor at the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Acoustics (LMFA - UMR 5509), affiliated with Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University in Lyon, France. He is a member of the EM³ team (Multi-physical, Multi-phase & Multi-scale flows) within the laboratory structure and maintains his office in the OMEGA Building on the 2nd floor.

His research focuses on complex fluid dynamics phenomena, particularly in the areas of multiphase flows and multiscale modeling. As a professor in the Department of Mechanics, his work bridges theoretical fluid mechanics with practical engineering applications. The EM³ team he belongs to specializes in studying flows involving multiple physical phenomena, different phases of matter, and interactions across various spatial and temporal scales.

Professor Trontin is actively involved in academic training, as evidenced by his offering of Master M2 internship positions for 2025. His work contributes to the broader research mission of LMFA, which maintains extensive experimental facilities including wind tunnels, hydrodynamic channels, and advanced measurement techniques such as PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) and LDV (Laser Doppler Velocimetry).
