Pierre Nguimkeu is a senior fellow and director of the Africa Growth Initiative within the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution. He is concurrently on leave from his role as a professor of economics at Georgia State University.

Nguimkeu's research centers on evidence-based policies for sustainable economic growth in Africa. He investigates the informal economy, the roles of education, credit access, kinship networks, and digital technologies in fostering employment and entrepreneurship. Additionally, he develops advanced econometric methods for causal inference with imperfect data common in African statistical surveys.
