Pierre-Henri CONAC

Pierre-Henri CONAC is a Full Professor of Financial Markets Law at the University of Luxembourg and served as Acting Director of the Luxembourg Centre for European Law (LCEL) until September 2024. He holds affiliations as a Max Planck Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg) and chairs the European Model Company Act (EMCA) Group. His primary roles include teaching, research leadership, and policy engagement in financial and corporate law.

Education: Graduated from the University of Paris 1 (Business Law, 1991), HEC School of Management (1990), Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (1994), and earned an LL.M. from Columbia Law School (1995). Previously served as Associate Professor at the University of Paris 1 (1999–2006).

Research focuses on securities law, company law (national/EU comparative perspectives), and regulatory frameworks. Active in EU policy-making through roles like the EU Reflection Group on Company Law (2011), DG Justice ICLEG (2020), and ESMA consultative groups (2011–2016). Editor-in-chief roles include Revue Pratique de Droit des Affaires, Revue des Sociétés, and European Company and Financial Law Review.

International engagements include visiting positions at universities like Stanford, Cambridge, and Aarhus, alongside teaching invitations at Oxford, Penn Law, and LSE. Fluent in French/English, proficient in German/Spanish, and knowledgeable in Luxembourgish.
