Pia Lindman is a Professor of Environmental Art at Aalto University, Finland. She focuses on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of art, science, and ecology, particularly through her concept of the 'subsensorial'—a realm of sensory experiences that bridges human and non-human entities. Her work integrates performance, installation, and healing practices, addressing themes of environmental crisis, bodily agency, and interspecies dialogue.
- Former roles include CAVS Fellow at MIT (2006–07) and artist-in-residence at CSAIL, MIT.
- Doctoral candidate at the University of Lapland (2017–present) researching the subsensorial and Nordic environmental politics.
- Initiated the art/science network Chill Survive (2018) and organized the Radical Relevances Conference.
Key projects include Nose, Ears, Eyes (São Paulo Biennale, 2016), Subsensorial XYZ (Bioart Society, 2019), and PoisonandPlay (Haus der Kulturen der Welt, 2011). Lindman’s art explores toxicity, healing, and the symbiotic relationships between human and ecological systems through immersive installations and participatory sessions.
