Christina Varvia is a Lecturer in Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Research Architecture. She specializes in spatial investigative techniques, feminist epistemologies, and biopolitical research. Her work bridges architecture, law, and human rights, with a focus on modeling violence and environmental justice.
Education: Pursuing PhD at Aarhus University (2024) on biopolitics and imaging of the human body. Previously trained as an architect.
Research interests span forensic methodologies, expanded body politics, and decolonial theory. Her investigations have been exhibited globally, including at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
Notable collaborations include Forensic Architecture’s projects on airstrikes, border violence, and detention conditions. Awards include the Novo Nordisk PhD Scholarship and Louisiana Museum Fellowship.
She advises students on producing politically impactful research for courts, activist spaces, and exhibitions. Key teams include the Forensic Architecture Initiative Athens (FAIA) and the Investigative Commons collective.
