Jenny Schmid

Jenny Schmid is a Professor of Art at the University of Minnesota’s Department of Art. She specializes in printmaking, digital art, and public installations, with a focus on social, political, and environmental themes. Her work bridges historical print traditions with contemporary issues, particularly gender autonomy and ecological crises.

Education: M.F.A., University of Michigan (1996); B.A., Political Science and Economics, Macalester College (1991).

Research interests include feminist surrealism, interdisciplinary collaboration with scientists and writers, and the ethical dimensions of medical imagery. She runs Bikini Press International, an art collective producing socially engaged works.

Recent projects include Disembodied/Reembodied (2024, exploring reproductive healthcare imagery) and A Codex of Quotidian Beasts (2022, addressing environmental collapse). Her animations, like Microworlds (2020), blend print techniques with digital media.
