Pia Claudia Doering is a Teaching Professor at the Romanisches Seminar, University of Münster, with a focus on medieval and early modern French/Italian literature. She leads projects C3-28 (Flaubert & religion) and C3-2 (religious criticism in novellas) in the Cluster of Excellence "Religion and Politics."

Her research examines literary intersections of law, religion, and politics in novellas, French classicism, and 19th-20th century reception of antiquity. Recent work connects pandemic narratives (Boccaccio's Decameron during plague/COVID-19) to socio-political practices.
