Research Focus: Schulze Dephoff specializes in 19th-century French literary analysis with Gustave Flaubert as her primary subject. Her work investigates L'Éducation sentimentale through lenses of religious practices, economic systems, and emotional frameworks within 19th-century socio-political contexts. She employs media theory to examine how literary representations shaped religious discourse, particularly in Flaubert's exploration of illusion, enlightenment, and socio-economic mobility. Her methodology bridges literary criticism with historical analysis of religious practices.
Professional Engagement: As lead researcher in Project C3-28 "Flaubert and religion(s)", she analyzes media forms and socio-political religious practices in 19th-century literature. Her recent conference presentations demonstrate rigorous examination of economic-religious dynamics in Flaubert's work. She maintains active roles in doctoral education through the Graduate School while advancing her dissertation on Flaubert's socio-religious narratives.
