Pia Alexander is a Teaching Faculty member in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at Antioch University New England since 2021, where she previously received the President’s Doctoral Fellowship. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in New York State, specializing in trauma-focused systemic modalities and medical family therapy.

Her research applies critical social theories to address maternal mental health and reproductive health disparities for African American women and families, emphasizing community well-being. She has contributed to presentations on topics like racial equity in healthcare, cultural stigma in counseling, and trauma-informed play therapy techniques.
Notable accolades include the NAACP Leadership 500 Recognition (2014, 2015). She actively serves on boards and task forces such as the Suffolk County Maternal Mortality & Morbidity Task Force and the Health Equity Task Force/Research Workgroup.
