Dr. Phillippa Lally is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Surrey, School of Psychology. She serves as Co-director of the Habit Application & Theory Research Group and is a Fellow of the University's Institute for Sustainability. She holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Warwick, an MSc in Health Psychology from UCL, and a PhD in Health Psychology from UCL.
Her research focuses on habit formation, behavior change interventions, health psychology, and cancer survivorship. Specific interests include weight management, physical activity promotion, and dietary changes among cancer survivors using digital health approaches.
Recent publications demonstrate her work in developing app-based interventions for cancer patients, examining psychological distress in survivorship, and evaluating lifestyle modification programs for special populations. Her research consistently addresses how behavioral science principles can improve health outcomes.
Awards include an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship and recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
She leads the Habit Application and Theory (HabitAT) research group, collaborating with the Health Psychology research group and Institute for Sustainability on interdisciplinary projects.
