Phillip Hsu, MD, PhD, is a Visiting Fellow in Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He concurrently serves as a PGSSC (Program in Global Surgery and Social Change) Fellow, an HBNU Fogarty Fellow, and a general surgery resident at the University of Michigan. His academic journey includes earning an MD and PhD from the University of Chicago, where his research focused on improving healthcare access for underserved immigrant populations.
Dr. Hsu’s research interests center on expanding surgical care access in resource-limited settings through quality improvement and education initiatives. Notably, he collaborates with physicians in Rwanda—specifically Drs. His work bridges clinical practice, public health, and global health equity.
His fellowships and residency reflect a commitment to interdisciplinary global health solutions, emphasizing both clinical expertise and structural interventions to address healthcare disparities.
