Isaac Alty, MD, is a Research Fellow at the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change within Harvard Medical School (HMS). He is concurrently serving as a general surgery resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Dr. Alty holds a B.S. in Chemistry and a double major in Ancient Greek from the College of William & Mary, followed by an MD from Harvard Medical School. His research emphasizes improving access to surgical care in underserved regions, exemplified by his focus on rural Burundi. His interests span surgical capacity strengthening, trauma system development, and surgical education innovation.
