Philippe Bousso

Philippe Bousso is the Director of the Department of Immunology at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, where he also leads the Dynamics of Immune Responses laboratory. He is a principal investigator on multiple major research projects, including ERC Advanced and Starting Grants, focusing on understanding the fundamental mechanisms of immune responses in cancer, infection, and transplantation contexts.

His research centers on adaptive and cellular immunity, with a particular focus on T cell biology, immune cell interactions, and the tumor microenvironment. Using cutting-edge techniques such as intravital imaging, optogenetics, and single-cell analysis, his lab investigates how immune cells communicate and coordinate their activities in real time within living organisms.

His work bridges fundamental immunology with translational applications, aiming to improve therapeutic strategies for cancer and infectious diseases.

He leads several research teams focused on lymphocyte activation in lymphoid organs, immune responses against tumors, and immune dynamics during infections and transplantation. His lab has also developed innovative software and methodologies for in vivo immune cell analysis.
