Philippe Boucaud is a Researcher managing the III-N Nanophotonics Laboratory on Silicon, with expertise in optoelectronics and clean room technology. His work focuses on III-nitride and GeSn-based photonic devices, including microdisk lasers, waveguides, and nanophotonic platforms integrated on silicon substrates.
- Université Paris Sud (PhD, 1988-1992)
- Magistère Interuniversitaire de Physique (1985-1987)
- Visiting position at University of California, Santa Barbara (1999)
His research spans optoelectronics, integrated photonics, and semiconductor material optimization. Key areas include nonlinear optics, quantum dot integration, and cavity design for UV to mid-infrared applications. Recent publications analyze 2D material growth, machine learning for electronic structures, and strain engineering in laser materials.
Current projects include the NANOFUTUR (2021-2026) and CAMICAZE (2023-2027) grants, focusing on nanofabrication and Bloch mode cavities for optical sensing. Past projects include Opoint (2020-2024) and SUNSUD (2021-2024) for optoelectronic device development.
His students include Masoud Khery (PhD, 2020), Nagesh Bhat (PhD, 2023), and Farsane Tabataba-Vakili (PhD, 2020). He has contributed to over 42 publications in journals like Nature Photonics, ACS Photonics, and Optics Express, with recent work on 2D materials, GeSn lasing, and III-Nitride platforms.
