معرفی
Åsa Haglund is a Full Professor at the Department of Photonics, Microtechnology and Nanoscience, Chalmers University of Technology. She holds a M.Sc. in Physics from Göteborg University (2000) and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers (2005). Her research focuses on vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs), III-nitride-based light emitters, and optoelectronic materials. She leads work on ultraviolet (UV) VCSELs, GaN-based devices, and advanced fabrication techniques like electrochemical etching for thin-film applications.
Her research explores UV-C and UV-B laser technologies, thermal management in optoelectronics, and material characterization of 2D materials such as ReS2. Key contributions include cavity engineering for wavelength stability, defect-assisted phase transitions, and high-contrast grating reflectors for VCSELs. Haglund’s work bridges semiconductor physics, nanotechnology, and photonics, addressing challenges in extreme wavelength regimes and high-performance optoelectronic systems.
Publications highlight advancements in UV-emitting devices, thermal analysis of GaN-based systems, and innovations in laser design. Her research trends emphasize pushing VCSEL capabilities into UV ranges and optimizing material properties for next-generation optoelectronic applications. Collaborative projects likely involve interdisciplinary teams at Chalmers and industry partners.
No scientific awards are listed, but her extensive publication record reflects sustained contributions to photonics and optoelectronics. She advises in the Photonics Laboratory and contributes to educational programs in electrical engineering and nanoscience at Chalmers.
