Philipp Niklowitz is a Senior Lecturer in Physics at the Department of Physics, Royal Holloway, University of London. His research focuses on strongly correlated electron systems, quantum critical phenomena, and novel states of electronic matter. He employs advanced techniques such as neutron scattering, X-ray scattering, and low-temperature measurements. Current projects include investigating Fe-based magnetic and superconducting compounds under extreme conditions (e.g., high pressures up to 200 kbar and magnetic fields up to 9 Tesla).
- Key Techniques: Electrical/thermal transport, heat capacity, magnetic property measurements, neutron/X-ray scattering
- Research Themes: Quantum criticality, high-temperature superconductivity candidates, pressure-induced phase transitions
He has led three major research projects funded by organizations like Diamond Light Source and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). These projects explored topics ranging from quantum phase transitions in correlated magnets to high-pressure studies of pnictides. His work bridges experimental condensed matter physics with theoretical models of electronic behavior.
Niklowitz has supervised five academic works and contributed to over 26 peer-reviewed publications. His experimental methodologies emphasize precision under extreme conditions, yielding insights into material behavior at quantum critical points and hidden-order transitions.
