Philip T. Yanos, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Psychology Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and The Graduate Center, CUNY. His expertise lies in mental health stigma and recovery among individuals with serious mental illnesses. He authored the book Written-Off: Mental Health Stigma and the Loss of Human Potential (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and co-developed the Narrative Enhancement and Cognitive Therapy (NECT) intervention. He has been honored with five John Jay College Scholarly Excellence Awards since 2009.

- National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Rutgers University (1999–2001)
- Research: Focuses on reducing mental health stigma, promoting recovery, and evaluating interventions like NECT. Active in policy advocacy, as evidenced by media engagements with Reuters, Buzzfeed, and CBS News.
- Affiliations: Associate Editor of Stigma and Health; member of the International Society for Psychological and Psychosocial Approaches to Psychosis.
