Philip Titcombe is a Lecturer at the MRC Lifecourse Epidemiology Centre, University of Southampton. He holds a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Statistics with Applications in Medicine from the same institution. His research focuses on epigenetic/genetic influences on health and disease, particularly the developmental origins of disease and applying statistical/bioinformatic methods to study early environmental impacts on later-life health risks.
He lectures on the MSc Statistical Genetics module (MATH6068) and co-supervised five masters’ dissertation projects. He also provides statistical consultancy for the Faculty of Medicine and contributes to biomedical research skills training. His work includes presentations at international conferences and collaborations on projects like the NiPPeR randomized controlled trial.
His publications span maternal nutrition, vitamin D metabolism, and epigenetic mechanisms linking lifestyle to cardiovascular and skeletal outcomes. He has contributed to studies on micronutrient supplementation effects and the genetic determinants of bone health in aging populations.
